( about )Based in Banyoles, Girona, artist Jordina Ferrando works on her contemporary ceramics project she established in 2021 in her grandfather’s former shop. From this memory-filled space, she creates one of a kind sculptural pieces and functional objects deeply connected to her Mediterranean roots and surroundings.

She is fascinated by shapes, textures and volumes. Each object she makes is unique, handcrafted with care and dedication, honoring the time and process required for its creation. Small variations reflect the artisanal nature of the work, giving each piece its own distinct identity. It’s a celebration of slow-making, respect for natural processes, and a deep connection to nature and her territory.

about jorceramics

( work )Her work is defined by a search for beauty through simplicity of form, a balance between artistic expression and functionality, and a careful attention to detail, texture, and material in its most essential state.

She nourishes her imagination with the natural world and the materials her environment offers. This deep sensory engagement leads her to highlight the raw, naked beauty of clay by leaving pieces unglazed or partially glazed, focusing on the essence and purity of each organic form, while crafting pieces that invite contemplation and calm.

Her creative process is guided by intuition, slowness, and a deep respect for the material. While she explores various ceramic techniques, her most cherished practice is coil building, through which she hand-builds each piece layer by layer into voluptuous, perfectly imperfect shapes. This method allows her to explore volumes and express her artistic language with honesty.
